TPD officers stand in view of a mangled bicycle at the intersection of North Mountain Avenue and East Fort Lowell on July 11.

A man riding his bicycle on North Mountain Avenue was hospitalized after a vehicle struck him Monday morning.

Witnesses told police a driver was traveling west on East Fort Lowell when she ran a red light at the North Mountain Avenue intersection and struck the bicyclist, who was riding south. The bicyclist was wearing a reflective vest and a helmet, but still suffered serious injuries, said Tucson Police Sgt. Kimberly Bay.

The investigation of the collision is ongoing, but speed and impairment do not appear to be factors, she said.
