Tucson sunsets

On any normal day, a weekly pass into Saguaro National Park costs pedestrians and bicyclists $5Β β€” $15 if you have a car.

But on Saturday, Sept. 22, those fees will be waived in celebration of National Public Lands Day, which falls on the fourth Saturday of each September.Β

"National parks are America’s best idea, and there are more than 400 parks available to everyone every day," the National Park Service's website says. "The fee-free days provide a great opportunity to visit a new place or an old favorite, especially one of the national parks that normally charge an entrance fee."Β

Although fees won't be waived for camping or other activities, the entrance fee will be completely eliminated for the day.Β

Saguaro National Park has two districtsΒ β€” one east of Tucson and one west.Β

Between the two regions, Tucsonans are able to hike, bike, picnic, camp, and take in the picturesque views.Β
