Testing on two wild foxes that were fighting on the grounds of the Arizona-Sonoran Desert Museum last week confirmed the animals had rabies, authorities say.

A staff member who tried to intervene was bitten, and the museum closed for a day Wednesday while trained staff searched the grounds and trapped the animals. The bite did not penetrate the skin and the staff member had previously been vaccinated against rabies.

Results of the testing confirmed the animals had rabies, Arizona Game and Fish said in a Facebook post.

Report ill or aggressive wildlife to 623-236-7201, leave the area, get rabies shots if attacked.
