Sheriff's investigators are trying to determine if a bicyclist was struck and killed by a driver who fell asleep behind the wheel.
Benjamin Bruns, 35, was riding along East Old Spanish Trail, near Rocking K Ranch Loop, about 5:30 p.m. Saturday when the crash occurred, the Pima County Sheriff's Department said Tuesday in a news release.
He died at the crash scene.
Investigators say the car’s driver might have fallen asleep at the wheel before the crash, the release said.
Neither excessive speed or impairment appear to have been factors in this case.
The investigation remains open.
