Tucson set a record high for the date Friday when it reached 111 degrees at 1:56 p.m., the National Weather Service said.
The previous record high for the date was 110 degrees set in 1942.
An excessive heat warning remains in effect until 7 p.m Friday, the NWS said.
The heat will stick around with a high in Tucson of 107 forecast for Saturday, then 102 on Sunday with a chance of 30 percent chance of rain, according to the NWS.
