A polar bear that received media attention after she and her brother were abandoned by their mother is now living at the Reid Park Zoo.
Snow arrived in Tucson Thursday night after spending the previous 17 years with her twin brother, Klondike, at SeaWorld Orlando, according to a Reid Park Zoo news release.
She's not available to the public yet, but people might be able to see her next week.
The bears became the subject of books and documentaries after their mother abandoned them after their birth in 1994 at the Denver Zoo.
The bears were hand-raised at the zoo and donated to SeaWorld in 1995.
SeaWorld officials sent Snow to Tucson so she could receive treatment for chronic skin allergies.
Polar bear experts, SeaWorld veterinarians and the Association of Zoos and Aquariums determined that Snow might benefit from living in Tucson.
Reid Park officials are not planning to acquire another polar bear because the animals are solitary.
Reid Park's previous resident polar bear, Kobe, was sent last November to the Pittsburgh Zoo.
The Association of Zoos and Aquariums had arranged for her to be matched with a male polar bear as part of its Species Survival Plan, a program established to ensure that the gene pool of zoo animals stays robust and diverse.
