A 71-year-old man nearly drowned in a hot tub in Green Valley on Friday, officials said.
The Green Valley Fire Department responded to a community clubhouse in the 100 block of Alsio Drive, which is south of Duval Mine Road and west of Interstate 19, for reports of an unconscious man found in a hot tub by other residents. He had been submerged in the water and other residents were trying to pull him out but were not strong enough, said L.T. Pratt, a fire department spokesman.
Firefighters pull him out of the hot tub and began administering first aid on the man. He was taken to a hospital in stable condition.
His wife said the man had been in the hot tub for about 45 minutes but it wasn't clear how long he had been submerged. The hot tub had a locking gate and large fence around it, Pratt said.
