A motorcyclist died Sunday when he was struck by an SUV near North Stone Avenue and West Glenn Street, Tucson police reported.
At about 12:15 p.m. Sunday, the motorcyclist left a bar parking lot on the west side of Stone and tried to cross two southbound lanes to head north when he was struck by a Ford Escape that was traveling south in the median lane, according to a news release from Sgt. Pete Dugan.
The driver of the Escape remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. No signs of impairment were detected from the driver of the Escape and speed does not appear to be a factor, Dugan wrote.
The identity of the motorcyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, is being withheld, pending notification of the next of kin. Alcohol appears to be a contributing factor for the motorcyclist, according the release.
