Homicide victims will be remembered at a candlelight vigil Friday at Reid Park.
The public vigil is in honor of National Day of Remembrance for Murder Victims, which is recognized each year on Sept. 25.
The event, organized by Homicide Survivors, will feature music by Mariachi Herencia de Cuco del Cid and refreshments.
The vigil starts at 6:30 p.m. at Ramada No. 3 at the park, 900 S. Randolph Way.
Before the vigil, Homicide Survivors will host a potluck for staff member Todd Blumhorst, ο»Ώwho is battling cancer.
Blumhorst was diagnosed with a Stage 4 Pancoast tumor that has spread to his spine.
The potluck starts at 5 p.m. at the same ramada, and Blumhorstβs favorite comfort foods β fried chicken and sloppy Joes β will be provided.
Guests are asked to bring their blankets or chairs and dishes to share.
