A man who shot at authorities trying to arrest him on a warrant at a Tucson hotel has been sentenced to 145 years in prison, officials say.
During the October 2016 confrontation Jack Witt Voris, 47, of Cottonwood, fired a handgun at officers during a long standoff that involved several law enforcement agencies. He eventually surrendered to Pima County Sheriff’s deputies, a U.S. Attorney's Office news release says.
No officers were injured.
In February, a federal jury convicted Voris of six counts of assault on a federal officer and multiple weapon offenses. He was sentenced Tuesday, the release said.
The case involved the FBI, sheriff's department, Tucson Police Department and the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
