A baseball field at Joaquin Murrieta Park, 1400 N. Silverbell Road, will be renamed for Harry Hoskinson.

A baseball field at Joaquin Murrieta Park will be renamed on Saturday for a Little Leaguer who died in 2014 at the age of 12.

Field No. 7 will be renamed for Harry Hoskinson, who played for the Western Little League, which plays on fields at the park.

After Harry’s death, the league garnered support and petitioned the city and the Parks and Recreation Department to name the field after him. Family and friends raised money to upgrade fields at the park, and the Tucson City Council approved renaming the field in Harry’s honor in August 2017.

On Saturday, “Harry’s Field” will be dedicated with a ceremony at 6 p.m. Then, the first game under the new name will be played at 7:30 p.m.

Joaquin Murrieta Park is at 1400 N. Silverbell Road.
