A man listed in critical condition was taken to a local hospital after a fire swept through a north-side apartment unit around noon on Sunday, according to Capt. Julian Herrera with the Tucson Fire Department.
A fire unit arrived at the Oakwood Terrace Apartments, near West Glenn Street and North Oracle Road, and found smoke coming from one of the apartments, Herrera said.
The crew found the fire in the front room and quickly had it under control. A single resident was located and transported to Banner-University Medical Center Tucson.
The origin and cause of the fire is under investigation, however, smoking materials were found around the sofa where investigators suspect the fire started, Herrera said.
