Rep. Paul Gosar, R-Ariz.

U.S. Rep. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.) posted on Twitter Tuesday that he had contacted the U.S. Capitol Police and Attorney General Jeff Sessions, asking that they check the identifications of all those attending Tuesday night’s State of the Union address and arrest those without legal citizenship.

A follow-up tweet said the congressman also asked that law enforcement officials arrest people using fraudulent social security numbers to pass through security.

“Of all the places where the Rule of Law needs to be enforced, it should be in the hallowed halls of Congress. Any illegal aliens attempting to go through security, under any pretext of invitation or otherwise, should be arrested and deported,” Gosar tweeted.

Democratic leaders, including Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer, invited dozens of young immigrants, those who received protection under Obama’s Deferred Action Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, to attend the address.

Trump canceled the DACA program last September, and gave Congress until March to create a legislative fix before the government stopped renewing permits.
