People gather around the Cactus Courtyard where growers sell plants and give advice during a Monsoon Madness Plant Sale at Tohono Chul Park. Thousands of plants from the bizarre to the sublime are for sale all around the garden grounds.

Plans for a public-private partnership to build an event pavilion at Tohono Chul Park will be presented to the public in two meetings.

The Oro Valley Town Council voted in July to pursue the partnership and conduct a feasibility study.

The proposed facility would include a stage and seating for up to 350 people. The new pavilion would complement the existing botanical gardens, art gallery and restaurant.

Park executive director Christine Conte and town economic development manager Amanda Jacobs will give a presentation and a tour at the project site at 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, at Tohono Chul Park, 7366 N. Paseo del Norte. A second public meeting is planned for 5:30 p.m. Sept. 24 at town hall, 11000 N. La CaÃąada Drive.

Once the design of the event pavilion is complete, the Town Council could opt to waive as much as $7,800 in development fees.
