A suspicious package on top of the Diamondback Bridge has closed Broadway in both directions near the pedestrian walkway as Tucson Police and Fire Departments investigate.
Sgt. Pete Dugan said the report came in at 3:15 p.m. with a witness telling TPD that they saw a man walking on top of the superstructure who had placed a backpack on top of the bridge and then ran away.Β
TPD's bomb squad is also on the scene, Dugan said.
Drivers are asked to avoid the area and take an alternate route.Β
