A 72-year-old woman has died from injuries she sustain in a Jan. 28 vehicle collision, authorities said Wednesday.

Estella Gonzales, the rear seat passenger in a 2014 Chevrolet Sonic, was released from the hospital after the incident but was readmitted Feb. 1 due to complications. She died on Feb. 7.

Officers determined the Chevrolet Sonic was traveling southbound on Sarnoff Drive heading across Speedway Boulevard. The vehicle was struck by a 2004 Dodge Pickup traveling westbound on Speedway Boulevard.

Emergency personnel arrived on scene around 1 p.m. and found the two vehicles in the intersection. Occupants from both vehicles were taken to a hospital.

The Pima County Medical Examiner's Office determined the collision was the primary cause of Gonzales's death. The investigation is ongoing.
