A seven-vehicle crash on westbound Interstate 10 Tuesday morning has killed at least three people authorities said.

Shortly before 8 a.m., Arizona Department of Transportation tweeted that a multi-vehicle collision at Ruthrauff Road had blocked all lanes of traffic, including the exit ramp.

One person was pronounced dead at the scene and multiple people were transported to the hospital with serious injuries, said Quentin Mehr, an Arizona Department of Public Safety spokesman.

Two of the victims have since died from their injuries.

The cause of the crash is currently unknown.

It's unknown how many other victims were taken to the hospital or treated for injuries.

Two lanes of I-10 between Ruthrauff and Prince have reopened, but there's no estimated time as far as when the other lanes will be open to traffic.

Drivers have been asked to find an alternate route.
