After attempting to locate the black bear that attacked a man south of Patagonia on Sunday, officials have suspended the search.
The 30-year-old man from Camp Verde was treated at a Nogales hospital after being attacked by the bear, the Arizona Game & Fish Department said in a news release.
The man sustained puncture wounds and lacerations to his legs, arms, and back. He has since been released from the hospital.
The attack happened in the Camp Washington area, west of Harshaw Road, the news release said. The man reportedly said that the bear charged at him from six feet away.
Game & Fish placed four cameras along trails, in addition to other traps, in attempt of finding the bear. The efforts were unsuccessful, and the department is suspending its search, they said Friday.
However, the department said the bear is still a threat to public safety and that anyone who sees the 200-pound bear, which is said to be brown with blonde streaks, should call Arizona Game & Fish at 623-236-7201.
