An 81-year-old woman has died days after she was struck by a car while crossing a neighborhood street in the city's west side, Tucson police say.
Martha Ballesteros Lopez was struck about 7 a.m. Sept. 23 as she crossed North Riverside Drive near West Sonora Street, near West St. Mary's Road, Tucson police said in a news release.
She died at the hospital Sept. 28.
Investigators say Lopez was in an unmarked crosswalk when she was struck by a white Chrysler sedan making a turn from eastbound Sonora onto Riverside. The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with police, the release said.
The crash remains under investigation.
