A fire reportedly started by a lightning strike is burning north of Bisbee, officials said.
The Judd Fire had burned about 8,000 acres by Friday evening and remained zero percent contained.
The fire was first reported about 5:20 p.m. Thursday on Mule Mountain. A caller said it appeared to have started after a lightning strike.
State land officials later said the fire was moving up a mountain that had a lot of fuel for the blaze. It is located near Double Adobe and High Lonesome roads, off of Arizona 80. The blaze was showing moderate to high fire activity, primarily on the northern and southeast sides on Friday.
No structures were in danger.
The Judd Fire is burning near Bisbee.
More than 100 fire personnel are assigned to the fire, including a Type II hand crew, an engine and air resources. Smoke will likely be visible around Bisbee, Tombstone and Hereford. Additional aviation resources are on standby officials said.
Travel in the area could be affected during some of the firefighting effort, officials said.
