Several people were hospitalized, including two children, after a two-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon near East Irvington Road and South Tucson Boulevard, authorities said.
Irvington at Tucson Boulevard was shut down from East Walnut Street to the intersection, because of the crash said Sgt. Pete Dugan, a Tucson Police Department spokesman.
The crash occurred about 3:30 p.m. when a Dodge truck was headed south on Tucson and traveled over the median and struck a Nissan SUV head-on, Dugan said.
Five occupants were in the SUV and two children were taken by Tucson Fire Department paramedics to a hospital. One was an infant who was in stable condition, and the other was a 7-year-old child who suffered serious injuries, said Dugan. The others in the SUV suffered minor injuries.
The driver of the truck suffered possibly life-threatening injuries and was also taken by paramedics to a hospital, Dugan said.
No other information was immediately available.
