A 78-year-old man was struck and killed as he crossed East Speedway Sunday night, Tucson police say.
About 10:20 p.m., the unidentified man was crossing Speedway near North Camilla Boulevard, east of North Country Club Road, when he was struck was struck by a westbound vehicle, Tucson police said in a news release.
He died at the crash scene. Police said they are withholding his name until family can be notified.
The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with police.
Investigators say the man was about 650 feet from a crosswalk.
