A 25-year-old Tucson man is facing federal human trafficking counts after the Border Patrol says they found agents 11 migrants crammed into the locked bed of his truck, a news release says.

On Thursday afternoon an agent stopped a Ford-250 pickup truck on Arizona 86.

The agent questioned the driver before the agent’s canine alerted to the vehicle.

Agents pried open a locked steel hinged door to the truck’s utility bed after the driver said he was unable to open it and found 11 people, the release says,

The people were laying on top of each other with no water, air conditioning or way to get out, the agency said.

Several people showed signs of heat illness.

Emergency medical services provided fluids, but no advanced medical care was necessary, the release says.

The driver, who was not named in the release, faces federal charges.

The 11 persons trapped inside the truck were processed for immigration violations.
