Send a kid to camp logo

The Arizona Daily Star’s Sportsmen’s Fund Send a Kid to Camp program raises money so children from low-income households and military families can attend overnight YMCA, Boy Scout and Girl Scout camps for little or no cost to their families.

We received 1,440 donations totaling $165,977 toward this year’s goal of raising $202,500.

Our annual fundraiser, Jonathan’s Fun Chili Cook-Off, is Saturday, Oct. 3, from noon to 2 p.m. at Jonathan’s Cork, 6320 E. Tanque Verde Road.

Tickets at the door are $10 for chili tasting from the following Tucson Originals restaurants: Claire’s Cafe & Art Gallery, Eclectic Cafe, Jonathan’s Cork (defending champion), Kingfisher Bar & Grill, Mama’s Hawaiian Bar-B-Cue, Monsoons Tap and Grill, Noble Hops, Pastiche, Rocco’s Little Chicago and Tanque Verde Ranch.

Several of today’s donations are in memory of Bess Wing, who died June 9.

Your contribution qualifies for a tax credit of up to $400 for donations to qualifying charitable organizations. Donations are welcome throughout the year.
