Nogales Border agents seized $538,800 worth of meth from three U.S. citizens at the I-19 Immigration Checkpoint Thursday night, officials said.

Agents referred a Chevrolet Malibu with two men and a woman for further inspection after an agency canine alerted to an odor from the car.

A search of the vehicle turned up 22 pounds of meth hidden in 21 bundles throughout the dashboard, a U.S. Customs and Border Protection press release said.

The drugs and car were seized, and all three citizens were arrested for narcotics smuggling.
