U.S. Border Patrol agents in Nogales found a 37-year-old Mexican woman "precariously dangling from the international border fence Saturday, abandoned by smugglers."

In a news release Monday, the Border Patrol's Tucson Sector gave the following account:

"Agents patrolling the border east of Nogales saw two smugglers attempting to lower the woman into the United States from Mexico using a harness and hoist rope. When agents approached, the woman attempted to climb back over the fence into Mexico but the smugglers left her hanging.

"Responding agents found the woman suspended approximately 15 feet above the ground and called the Nogales Fire Department to get her down.

"The woman was uninjured and is now being processed for immigration violations.

"U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials welcome assistance from the community. Citizens can report suspicious activity to the Border Patrol and remain anonymous by calling 1-877-872-7435 toll free."
