Javier Figueroa, 23, was arrested in connection with the shooting of his pregnant girlfriend, officials say.

A man has been arrested in connection with the shooting of his pregnant girlfriend on Monday night in Casa Grande, officials say.

According to a news release from the Pinal County Sheriff's Office, officials responded to a report of a burglary at a home, where a gunshot was also heard.

Upon arrival, deputies found a 30-year-old woman, who was seven months pregnant. She had a gunshot wound to the head, the release says.

Twenty minutes after the call, the woman's boyfriend arrived at the house in her car. Deputies say he had what appeared to be blood on him. 

The man has been identified as Javier Figueroa, 23. Figueroa, who indicated to deputies that the incident was an accident, was arrested, the release says. 

The woman was airlifted to a hospital and is currently in a medically-induced coma. Doctors were able to deliver the baby, who is in stable condition.
