Best Things Arizona says Tucson has some of the best markets in the state

While supermarkets and big box stores can be found just about anywhere, independent grocers and markets are getting harder to track down.

With foods ranging from traditional grocery store fare to locally-source produce, fresh seafood and homemade deli items, there's nothing to break up the monotony of food shopping like a stop at a local market, according to an article on Best Things Arizona, a website that specializes curating lists of the finest things in the state.

With four Tucson spots landing on Best Things' list of the 10 best markets, it appears that Tucsonans have plenty of options when it comes to supporting local grocers.

Occupying the first spot on the list is Rincon Market, 2513 E. 6th St., which has been a Tucson staple since 1926.

"Rincon Market has everything you’d want out of a local market—a storied history, fresh local food, and even a café," the article says, adding that Rincon sells some of the some of the finest deli meats, cheeses, fruits and vegetables in Tucson.

Up next for Tucson is Time Market, located at 444 East University Boulevard, which proves that eating healthy doesn't have to be expensive, according to Best Things.

"All of their items are meticulously crafted to ensure maximum freshness—organic produce, artisan breads, and their rotating menu of coffee," the article says.

Lee Lee International Supermarkets is the next Tucson spot to make the list, although to be fair, the market has three locations in the state.

The Tucson store is located at 1990 West Orange Grove Road and is packed full with foods from more than 30 countries.

"Lee Lee has over 50,000 international grocery items including sauces, spices and noodles," the article says. "They also have a wide range of meats, seafood and produce from around the world."

The last Tucson spot on the list is Babylon Market, 3954 E. Speedway Boulevard, is a Middle Eastern Market "through and through," the article says.

Babylon carries items like Halal beef, lamb, goat meat, along with pita and Arabic white and wheat bread, but it's also known for it's fresh, hot food.

"They have a small kitchen with items like kebabs, shawerma and falafel made to order," the article says, adding that if you're seeking tasty and expensive Middle Eastern food, this is the market for you.
