A 47-year-old Yuma woman and her 17-year-old son are facing drug charges after U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers say they tried to smuggle five pounds of methamphetamine into Arizona.

The pair were nabbed Wednesday as they walked into Arizona at the border crossing in San Luis, the agency said in a news release.

They were searched after a narcotics-detection dog altered to the pair.

Officers found a total of five pounds of meth taped to their bodies. The officers found packages taped around the woman’s waist and her inner thighs, and more meth taped to the teen’s inner thighs, the news release said.

The Officers seized the drugs and turned the woman and her son over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
