A Douglas man is facing charges of trying to cross into Mexico with an M-4 carbine strapped to his body, authorities said.

Customs and Border Protection officers doing routine outbound inspections at the Douglas crossing stopped the man Jan. 10. The officers discovered the rifle taped to the 21-year-old's body, according to a news release from CBP.

The rifle, which is commonly used by the U.S. military, was seized. The man was turned over to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations.
