Chick-fil-A: Chick-fil-A gave Boys & Girls Clubs of Tucson a $50,000 grant as part of its True Inspiration Awards. The organization plans to use the grant to buy a new fleet of vehicles to provide transportation for youth. Established in 2015, the True Inspiration Awards seek to honor and support organizations that make a positive impact in their local communities. Boys & Girls Clubs of Tucson was named a winner in the βCaring for Peopleβ category.
Levity Wellness: Levity Wellness, a float spa in Tucson, partnered with a local Girl Scout troop for a month-long donation drive for Pima Animal Care Center in December.
Tucson East Elks Lodge 2532: Tucson East Elkβs Lodge 2532 closed out 2023 with a number of charitable events, all supported by grants and fundraisers by the membership. It presented $2,500 to the Tucson Food Pantry to purchase additional food for the Thanksgiving holiday. The lodge also donated $1,000 to the Kids of Steele foundation for its Christmas program. As part of separate efforts, the lodge took 50 children from Ford Elementary School on a Christmas shopping event at Walmart store; and members packed and delivered 52 food boxes to families in need.
XPO: A local branch of a nationwide trucking company XPO donated 500 pounds of food to Tucson East Elks Lodge 2532 for its Feed a Family program. This was done entirely through employee donations. The food donation was to supplement the food boxes distributed at Christmas in the community by the lodge.
Trico Electric Co-op: Trico Electric Cooperative has awarded $35,000 to six nonprofit organizations providing critical services in Southern Arizona. The grants are part of Tricoβs Power Grants program and are awarded twice a year to charities.
Nonprofits are selected through an application process and reviewed by a six-person committee made up of Trico employees, members and board members.
Arizona Friends of Foster Children Foundation received a $2,000 grant. Receiving grants of $5,000 each were Gabrielβs Angels, Literacy Connects and Wheel Fun. Hard Hitters for the Kingdom, Inc. received a grant of $8,000. Junior Achievement of Arizona received a grant of $10,000.
