Mountain lion sightings are frequently reported in the foothills surrounding Tucson and nearby neighborhoods.
Arizona Game and Fish Department officials say that while most sightings do not require further action, anyone who spots mountain lions can help the department monitor their movement by calling 623-236-7201.

UpdatedA security camera captured a mountain lion walking through the yard of a home near Ventana Canyon Monday morning. This marks the third mountain lion sighting in that area in five years, according to the Arizona Game and Fish Department.

Watch: Officials survey Silver Bell Mountains, see bighorn sheep and mountain lion
UpdatedArizona Game and Fish Department Tucson did a survey of the Silver Bell Mountains, west of Marana, recently and saw more than 160 bighorn sheep and one mountain lion. "The herd there is the largest among four ranges in the Tucson area, which now has more than 400 bighorns in part because of translocations," the department said, adding that the state's bighorn population has grown from 1,500 in 1957 to 6,000 today.
