Tucson speaks up: Letters to the editor for the week of Feb. 6, 2026

Our weekly round-up of letters published in the Arizona Daily Star.

The tinfoil hat wearing flat-earthers are out in force once again, advancing legislative offerings aimed at prohibiting those nefarious climate-change scientists from dispersing chemtrails into our skies. How utterly exhausting such devotion to conspiratorial claptrap must be. It's tragic, to be sure, and yet perversely amusing in its way, to behold such unshakeable certainty over such dubious claims espoused with such conviction.
Once one succumbs to accepting the impossible, rejecting the incontestable becomes effortless. If this paranoid contingent could remove their tin hats long enough to use their thinking caps instead, and direct a fraction of the time they’ve invested in nonsense toward assimilating bona fide evidence-based knowledge, they would have no need for these frivolous efforts. Oh, the humanity!

A week before the 2024 election, the Economist magazine called the American economy “The Envy of the World.” Now, we are an international joke and it seems the rioters of January 6, 2020 have found a new home in ICE.
I support and participate in the protests, when my health allows, but it is important to remember the one thing we can do in Tucson is to vote against Juan Ciscomani in November.
Don’t worry about the pork he is bringing home – he is not making those decisions. In fact, the only decision he has ever made has been to make sure all of his decisions align with Donald Trump’s.

I'm 91 and have voted in every election since I registered as a Republican in 1956. Since then, I've voted for candidates for president and members of Congress from both parties. In 2008 I got disgusted with what the Republican party had become and changed my registration to Democrat. Since then, I've voted pretty much for Democrats. In the upcoming election I will vote for any candidate of any party who will admit that our current president is hell-bent on setting up his own military dictatorship and has the guts to oppose him.

Donald Trump’s unceasing campaign to rewrite the 2020 presidential elections has raised a curious dichotomy in my mind, to wit: All concede that Trump won the 2016 election. He also won the 2024 election. If he were to be successful in his efforts to reverse the outcome of the 2020 elections, this would mean that he was elected three times as president. The 22nd Amendment, Section 1, to the Constitution clearly states, in part, that “No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice….” If what Trump claims is true, i.e. that he was elected president in 2020, doesn't that means he was previously elected twice and was thus ineligible to run for office in 2024? Ergo, he cannot be our legally elected president now? Note: Amendment 22 doesn't say that the person had to serve, merely that he/she cannot be elected more than twice. Am I missing something, or is he?

A frequent writer presenting ICE actions as absolutely legal is absolutely false. Same goes for saying ICE targets rapists, murderers and abusers. Simply not true.
If heinous conduct was done in the US, try and incarcerate them where the crimes were committed. ICE could deport them from prison. If not done here, what is the basis for thinking it is true? Because ICE or Fox News said so? Based on its investigation, has ICE ever actually found and deported a rapist or abuser?
The writer implies all illegals are rapists, abusers and murderers which is clearly wrong.
Concern and compassion for women and children being raped or abused does not preclude concern for US citizens killed by ICE. It is not an a) or b) issue.
Compassion is not shown by deporting a rapist to continue such activity vs bringing that criminal to justice with closure for the victims?

Prior to the 2024 election Congress had created a bi-partisan bill to deal with immigration within the framework of the US Constitution. Candidate Trump ordered the GOP to kill it, and they obliged as they always do. Apparently Trump had a better idea that would involve the shooting deaths of American citizens who might complain. There were American casualties to his early denial of Covid during the first term too. Here we are again.

The actions taken by LE are justified when they focus on those who have committed serious criminal acts, the worst of the worst, not on vulnerable populations such as families. Due process must be upheld within local communities, and professionalism in law enforcement is essential. Officers should be transparent by identifying themselves clearly, and they must engage with the public through proper methods rather than resorting to smoke bombs, pepper spray &violence. It is unacceptable to confront innocent individuals aggressively, especially when they are unarmed or have been effectively disarmed. Adhering to established procedures, having legal warrants, and respecting rules of engagement are vital. The unfortunate deaths of two protesters highlight the need for proper law enforcement conduct. LE should remove their masks and display their identification openly. The tragic events could have been avoided if those involved in enforcement actions had received adequate professional training. During peaceful demonstrations, especially where ICE may be operating outside lawful parameters, caution should be paramount.

My dear Mr. Johnson: Regarding your LTE Feb.1st, can you tell me how many women have been raped and/or killed by illegal immigrants? What is your source for this information? Can you tell me how many women have been raped and/or killed by US citizens? What is your source for this? How do they compare? Since many US citizens rape and kill women, should we put you in detention? After all, I do believe you are a male US citizen aren't you?

Our Loyal friend in OV has found a new group to chastise, the citizens of Minneapolis. He believes that the killing of two people, one protesting peacefully and one in her car leaving the scene would not have been killed had they protested peacefully. Renee Good wasn't even protesting. She was leaving when a Ice agent decided it was her time to die. Alex Pretti is clearly seen videoing Ice agents, not any hostile act. He was aiding a woman the ICE officer just shoved to the ground. For his "chilvalrous act" he was shot 10 times. Or was it only 9 times? Most of us have seen the videos. Most of us understand the jackbooted thugs that aren't well trained murdered two innocent people. Neither did anything remotely deserving of the death penalty. What Loyal doesn't understand is that almost everyone is in agreement that criminals should be deported. Obama deported more than Trump has. It can be done without the chaos. It's the deportation of people who often have nothing more than traffic offenses, stopping people for how they look, detaining US citizens, separating families, etc. Texas and Florida have many more immigrants than Minnesota. TDS is real but not what he thinks it is. It's unquestioned loyalty to a cult led a narcissistic felon.

A SCOTUS decision in 1989, Graham vs Connor, allowed police to use force if at the time, not in hindsight, they reasonably, not 100%, believe it is warranted. If one is pulled over at night and points their phone at the officer one could possibly be shot as the officer did not know what was in your hand or your intent. If Granny did the same thing I believe the result would be different legally. I believe this was the basis for the officer to be exonerated in the Michael Brown case. George Floyd? In a February 1 LTE captioned "Makes no sense", the contributor's second paragraph begins "ICE actions are absolutely legal." This precedes the assertion in his third paragraph that "The tragic killing of two protestors could have been easily avoided" but for the fault of Minnesota and Minneapolis "politicians."
I wholeheartedly agree that the contributor "makes no sense."
Ms. Good and Mr. Pretti, the people ICE and Border Patrol shot to death, were both American citizens.
The Immigration and Nationality Act, 8 USC 1357, subject to limitations, authorizes ICE to arrest "person(s) in the US illegally" and to "interrogate individuals believed to be aliens." It does not confer any police power with respect to U.S. citizens, the several states of the Union, or any municipality therein.
With all due respect, I suggest that the contributor, as is his custom, has once again submitted a letter that does not meet the Star's requirement of "easily verifiable" fact.

The front page of the Arizona Daily Star on January 31st showed a disagreement between Katie Hobbs and Mayes. I like Hobbs and agree that we need to keep the temperature down. I also think it's important to point out a perfect storm possibility when you see one. Mayes has the gift of seeing that as a possibility for us with our circumstances. With knowledge, hopefully, we can come up with solutions and be prepared rather then crossing our fingers and hope nothing happens. Mayes is also proactive in protecting us against the unconstitutional actions of the White House. We need to support her and leaders like her who fight to protect our liberties.

Police protection
I previously sent a letter to the Editor wherein I advised Mayor Romero that she had the responsibility to advise the Tucson Police Department that they had the primary duty to protect and defend the citizens of Tucson, particularly from any Nazi-style group of terrorist thugs We now read in Tim Steller’s column that Darell Hussman, one of the officers on the “rapid-response” team of the Tucson Police Department, is saying that they are called upon to “protect federal agents.” Understand that Donald Trump’s Gestapo, ICE, is a poorly trained bunch of thugs who do not follow the law: they break into houses with no warrant, they arrest and detain American citizens, they separate small children from their parents, and they wound and murder American citizens. Donald Trump is following Adolf Hitler’s strategy, and the creation of his Gestapo is a major part of it. The Tucson taxpayers pay the Tucson Police. It should be their first responsibility to protect the citizens of Tucson.

Weirdly, some thought that ICE agents executing white people wouldn't be a part of Trump's deportation of non-white, presumed criminals. You didn't foresee that either?
You were blind to that possibility despite Trump's attempting goals with no foresight other than to create a chaotic tsunami of disasters? You don't recall January 6th?
You forgot Trump's appointed Homeland Security Secretary determined that the best way to deal with a puppy's behavioral issue was a summary execution?
You may be forgiven for past oversights, but only if you now agree to recognize that the megalomaniac in charge has access to the nuclear codes and is currently threatening every geopolitical entity on the planet — friend and foe alike. Also, The Department of Defense is now The Department of War. Absolution will only occur, and must be self-administered, when you vote his sycophantic henchmen out of office in November. Only you can prevent WWIII.

Following Donald Trump's narcissistic renaming of iconic sites in his honor, Trump has been removing names and information throughout America, giving a new dimension to the term whitewashing. Recently, the National Park Service removed exhibits about slavery at the President's House in Independence National Historical Park in Philadelphia, resulting in Pennsylvania's Governor Josh Shapiro's condemnation of the acts as the “sanitation of historical exhibits.” The Arizona Daily Star article “Native history exhibits at Grand Canyon targeted” details the National Park Service's removal of “signage, exhibit text and images that refer to the removal of Native peoples or discuss restrictions placed on tribal cultural practices.” Jim Enote, Chair of the Grand Canyon Trust, noted such action “separates people from place,” adding “It strips both land and humanity of their whole meaning.” The article continues with other atrocious efforts to remove or reframe history. Ironically, rather than glorify Trump, these efforts will reflect a morally hollow man in constant need of validation.

The America that my parents immigrated to in 1947, that I learned about and learned to love in my social studies classes in Indiana, that my classmates fought for in the '60s and '70s; that made life-changing inventions to raise standards of living around the world; that funded institutions promoting peace, health, and cooperation; that enacted protections for the only planet mankind can occupy; that advanced awareness of the need for tolerance and justice, is gone.
The very mantra of DEI - diversity, equity, and inclusion - has been inverted from an aspiration into an abomination.
Racism is again openly embraced - in immigration, higher education, employment. Suspicion and devaluation - by the white and wealthy - are once again coin of the realm. The "summer of love" has faded into the winter of hate in the snow-covered Minneapolis streets.
Trump, the hater-in-chief, doesn't speak for me. We cannot be free of him and his deplorable lackeys soon enough.

On January 23, 2016, in Sioux City, Iowa, Donald Trump said, “I could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot someone and I wouldn’t lose any votes.”
This week, Arizona Republican leadership met in Prescott. In the wake of the shootings in Minneapolis, several members were quoted as saying such things as: “FAFO,” “They (protesters) are doing it to themselves,” “They (ICE) are just federal workers doing what they have been asked to do,” “If it takes a little inconvenience to get the job done, then I’m all for it," and “When you pull a gun on an ICE officer… well.”
Several of those interviewed said they had not bothered to look at videos, but believed Kristy Noem’s and Gregory Bovino’s reporting of the incident.
At least for the Arizona Republican leadership, Trump’s people can shoot people in the middle of the street and he won’t lose their vote. Trump’s statement, made 10 years ago, is prophetic and very worrisome.

ICE is not in Minneapolis because it is a "sanctuary city." They are in the city because Trump is seeking retribution against Governor Walz for damaging Trump's fragile ego. They are in the city primarily because of Trump's racism against the Somali community, as well as the fact that a Democrat is the mayor.
The author of the LTE falsely implies that all of the undocumented are criminals and is apparently unaware or unconcerned that the Constitution applies even to the undocumented. He also characterizes the demonstrations as "far from peaceful" and that they are funded by Soros, a claim which in addition to being false, also has its roots in antisemitism. And no right-wing trope would be complete without mentioning that not only do they vote, but that they do so exclusively for Democrats.
The most ridiculous claim in the LTE is that it is Democrats who "hate" American citizens while striving for "power and control".

John Kavanagh wants Kris Mayes to resign because she stated the obvious. So I have question for him. It's the crack of dawn and your door is busted open. A dozen men wearing tactical gear and 12 different types of clothing (blue jeans, T-shirts, etc.) looking more like Russian mercenaries than police. They do have velcro patches that say police, but they are cursing like drunken sailors. Are they cops of impersonating police? What if they are criminals with a badge? They will knock you out, steal what they want or beat you to death. You call us terrorists, but these are our homes and these people do not look nor act like police. Why should we treat them as such? You put all Arizonans in jeopardy by creating a situation that puts us at the mercy of any punk that can score a velcro patch.

I’m seventy-seven years old, born in America, and I’m ticked. DJT, his worshipers, and over a third of Americans have come up with their own Constitution. For them, free speech means I can say anything I want if I’ve heard it first on Newsmax or Fox News. I can worship in any church if there’s a cross out front. My friends and I can hold up signs if they say “MAGA” or “Trump.” I can carry my gun if everyone around me wears a red cap. The laws work for me because I’m German and white. My vote counts if it’s for the "right" candidate. I'm tired of having this me-first attitude and others-be-chucked. In nine months there's an election. Make a change.

Healthcare costs are always on the rise and a lot of us retirees don’t have the privilege of being able to keep up with costs. I know for a fact, Congressman Juan Ciscomani has made this issue a priority, being an original cosponsor of the Bipartisan Premium Tax Credit Extension Act which protects seniors, families, and small business owners from skyrocketing premiums.
I appreciate that he also joined House Members, writing a letter to both House and Senate leadership, urging them to take action, making sure we aren’t faced with steep increases to our premiums. I believe he understands it is his and his colleagues’ duty to protect their constituents from the burden of sky high healthcare costs and I greatly respect Ciscomani for his continued committment and concern on this issue.
Congressman Ciscomani, thank you for the work you do to ensure that we can afford proper healthcare - it does not go unnoticed.

The police actions, Supreme Court filings, and casual references to “autocratic” powers now circulating in Washington are not routine legal disputes. They are a test of American democracy and national courage.
When law enforcement is used to intimidate protesters, when legal filings seek to place presidents above the law, and when the Insurrection Act is treated as a political tool rather than a last resort, the message is clear: constitutional limits are optional if power can be seized.
Will police serve the Constitution or partisan commands? Will courts restrain executive overreach or rationalize it? Will state officials protect elections or surrender to pressure and threats?
If Donald Trump succeeds in even part of this strategy, the midterm elections will be next. Elections need not be canceled to be corrupted. Undermine trust, intimidate officials, weaponize the courts, and he wins – democracy loses.
Every generation of Americans are tested. Sometimes the test is easy. This time, I fear it is a dissertation on our character and courage: will we meet the challenge?

Trump, his administration, and right-wing media just keep lying.
Mexico didn’t pay for the wall. Immigrants weren’t eating pets. Prices have not decreased. Tariffs aren’t paid for by other countries. Biden didn’t have open borders. Trump didn’t win in the 2020 election. And 28,000 people a year don’t die in Peru from snake bites (it’s about 6, and...why lie so extravagantly about such a weird topic?)

To understand the foundations of Donald Trump's thinking, it's important to recognize the influence of Roy Cohn, a notorious attorney with ties to organized crime who was eventually disbarred. Cohn taught Trump six key rules for managing and dominating situations and people, which continue to be evident in Trump's actions today: 1. Never apologize or admit wrongdoing, ever. 2. Always counter-attack, and do so with greater force than you received. 3. Use the legal system as a weapon, not as a means for justice. 4. Manipulate the media ruthlessly. 5. Use fear as both a shield and a sword. 6. Build a strong circle of loyalty around yourself.
Cohn's philosophy held that "winning by cheating is still winning." He would have supported submitting fraudulent ballots to overturn an election.

What was once a children’s animated film has become our national nightmare.
Our chief bogeyman gutted government agencies and assailed media outlets, eliminating the essential services they provide and imperiling the lives and livelihoods of millions. His punishing tariffs and threats of more foreign invasions have destabilized global economies, threatened alliances and irreparably harmed our world standing.
His violent ex-con ICE enforcers have stormed our cities, kidnapped and terrorized law-abiding citizens, and brutally deported innocent men, women and children, causing widespread fear and anguish. ICE savagery has escalated to menacing peaceful protesters and using deadly weapons against them.
His cruel enablers in our state and congressional houses have attacked Medicaid, Social Security and veteran’s benefits, crippled public schools, and assaulted civil and voting rights, compromising our institutions and causing grievous suffering.
We have the power to end this nightmare. Together, we can reinstitute the rule of law, redirect our resources to aid our citizens, reclaim our rights, and recapture our American dream.

Current LTEs incessantly demean and vilify actions by ICE in Minnesota and other locals with comments like Nazi, untrained, and jack-booted thugs.
ICE actions are absolutely legal and target criminal illegals who have committed the most heinous of criminal acts.
The tragic killings of two protesters could have been easily avoided with peaceful protests and if Minnesota and Minneapolis were not a sanctuary state and city with their politicians inciting violence and thwarting ICE activities.
While great concern was expressed for the two protesters, where was your concern for the multitudes of women and young children who were abused, raped, and killed by known, identified criminal illegals? It certainly appears that you have more compassion for criminal illegals residing in our communities than for the innocent women and helpless children that are preyed on in the most despicable manners. Trump has the FBI taking voting documents from Fulton County Georgia. He still can't accept that Biden beat him in the 2020 election. So we are to believe that Trump's FBI Director Patel will take all the ballots from 2020 and count them somewhere else and determine the election was stolen and there was massive fraud. Those Fulton County ballots were counted many times. Would anyone believe Trump's private FBI count will prove fraud? Not very bloody likely. By now it should be clear, that after the horrific killings in Minneapolis, and other crimes committed by the federal government, that Donald Trump is totally unfit for office. He has neither the capacity, nor the temperament, to lead our country. He treats our country as if it were one of his properties. He resorts to immature insults of those he doesn't like, threats when he doesn't get his way and unlawful acts when it suits him. For someone so opposed to DEI, he institutes his own version, which is "they like me" and puts them in charge of agencies they are unqualified to run, simply because they know how to stoke Trump' ego. Kristi Noem and Greg Bovino need to be fired for willfully and knowingly lying to the American people. Pam Bondi and Todd Blanche need to be disbarred. Kash Patel should be shown the door. I can only imagine the nightmares 5-year-old Liam Ramos is having. Last week Liam and his father were detained in Minneapolis as they arrived home from his preschool. The two were then sent to a Texas detention center. Liam has been asking about his classmates, mom, family, blue bunny taken by an ICE agent and his backpack. This without a doubt is emblematic of the inhumane treatment that Trump’s regime is perpetrating on Latino communities. U.S. Minnesota District Judge Patrick Schiltz said of ICE conduct, “The extent of the violations and list should give pause to anyone — no matter his or her political beliefs — who cares about the rule of law. ICE has likely violated more court orders in January 2026 than some federal agencies have violated in their entire existence.” Why such lawlessness by ICE? U.S. AG Pam Bondi said, “Nothing will stop President Trump and this Department of Justice from enforcing the law." I wonder if her statement includes unlawful conduct by DHS?

1/29/26: Sanctuary states/cities.
State/local government has no immigration enforcement authority. They are required to provide some assistance to Federal agencies by law or grants. Providing more cooperation than required exceeds the authority and responsibility of State and local administrative entities. Red States are likely guilty of exceeding their authority.
Sanctuary is defined as ‘protection or a safe place’. Is there a safe place in the USA for illegal immigrants?
Trump campaigned on deporting criminal illegal aliens. No problem with that. Trump’s agency appointees are trying to ‘make their numbers’ without regarding immigrant’s criminality. Canpaign promises are made to break.

I am a veteran and remember when veterans who served were respected and not deemed “losers” by a president who dodged the draft. I remember when the government worked for the people and did not pardon violent January 6 criminals. I cannot recall when our government unleashed thugs selectively into states that did not support the Republican president. I remember when Republicans who lost elections were gracious losers. I remember being a Republican Party voter (Goldwater, Nixon twice, Reagan) when the Republicans were fiscally responsible and worked on a bipartisan basis for the benefits of constituents and our country. That is not the Republican Party today. That is why I will support every Democratic Party candidate with money and my vote.

In the January 24th edition of the Star the caption of the photo showed "An FBI seal is displayed Jan. 16 on a podium before a news conference at the field office in Portland". The AP reporter needs to be educated. A podium is a raised platform, such as a stage where speakers wait to speak for instance. The picture is of a lectern, a piece of furniture which a speaker stands behind. One would hope that journalists could get this right.

What is happening today has serious analogies to past histories with how American military and paramilitary forces are being used against American citizens today. First is use of U.S. military against its own citizens. In July 1932 President Herbert Hoover ordered the US Army to forcibly evict WW I veterans and their families from Washington DC, who came to the Nation’s Capital to address Congress. This questionable or illegal use of the military was a significant contributing factor in Hoover’s loss in the 1932 election. A second analogy would be Homeland Security using tactics like those used by Germany in the 1920s to 1945 to eliminate what they claimed were “The people who contaminate the blood of the Aryan Nation.” While in the Trump administration I believe the intent is to try and take away legal protection that is a keystone of our Constitution, the rule of law that is the Judiciary.

Too little, too late, the Republican Party is truly a disgrace to our Constitution, our American values, our country. If they are going to hold a leadership position in one of our bodies of government, they need to stand tall and start acting like a leader. We need to vote this group of disgraceful, hypocritical Republicans out, replace them with individuals like Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger, who are true Republican leaders. If you can't find a Republican with their values, then vote Democrat so "we" can have the majority and impeach this bunch of lying, cheating scumbags who can't commit to a personal value and have no moral desire to build a country for the people. It is up to us, the people. Don't trust anything they say, it's just a smokescreen to get through the midterms.

Do the American people really understand -- agree -- that we would be the aggressor in using our resources, military equipment and personnel, to attack another country? With abusive and unaccountable DHS agents besieging Minneapolis, we now see what the GOP’s fascism looks like. A few elected Republicans have tepidly pushed back, but most of them never will. Elected Republicans are afraid of Trump and his MAGA base. Trump tweets fatwas against anyone who is not sufficiently loyal to him, and the MAGA base makes death threats to the dissenters and their families.
This will not stop unless and until we vote the Republicans out. Do not believe anything Republicans say or promise. They will goose-step to Trump’s orders. Vote them out.

If Trump’s stated goal is to find and deport undocumented immigrants, the math leaves no room for ambiguity: The focus should be Texas and Florida, not Minnesota. This is not ideology or rhetoric; it is just simple arithmetic.
Current demographic estimates place Texas at roughly 2.1 million undocumented immigrants and Florida at about 1.6 million. Minnesota’s total is estimated at around 130,000. In plain terms, Texas has about sixteen times as many undocumented residents as Minnesota, and Florida has roughly twelve times as many.
The percentages reinforce the point. Undocumented immigrants make up approximately 7 percent of the populations of Texas and Florida, compared with about 2 percent in Minnesota. Any enforcement strategy designed to maximize removals per agent or impact per dollar would naturally concentrate resources where the population is largest.
The conclusion is hard to avoid. This is not an immigration strategy, it is a political performance with its main goal is chaos, violence, intimidation and an excuse to militarize our cities.

People push back on analogies between Trump and Hitler; of course, there are distinct differences. Still, Trump is an insecure, swaggering bully who completely disregards anything opposing his "wants." He is ignorant, lies continually, and has an insatiable lust for self-aggrandizement and dominance. He never contemplates long-term outcomes, and thinks in simplistic, often fact-free terms. Trump has not goose-stepped anyone into ovens, but relishes other means of punishing disagreement with him or refusal to support his lawlessness. Though essentially a thug, his methods involve inflicting personal, reputational or financial harm to his "enemies." If others perpetrate physical harm on his behalf, he's pleased. American citizens provided Trump awesome power, not once, but twice. I believe, post Trump, our country will bear a shame similar to that the Germans experienced in the post Hitler years - embarrassment and humiliation because we enabled this awful person as he systematically demolished the once great standing America had in the world.

If you have access (directly or through a friend) to the online NY Times, I recommend reading Thomas Edsall’s essay from January 13, 2026 “Trump Unmasked.” It’s a terrific and well researched summary of Trump’s psychopathology with references to the dark triad of narcissism, Machiavellianism, and psychopathology — which have particularly surfaced with his ascension to power. His malignant narcissism manifests as poor judgment, lack of inhibition, a total lack of empathy, as well as feelings of omnipotence and a desire to aggressively dominate, aided by a bullying personality. These conditions cause him to never apologize, and show up in escalating displays of dominance, a lack of morality, and a need for never-ending praise which is rarely justified. His “weave” is just word salad, the raving of a disturbed and chaotic mind. As a physician, I say these are legitimate observations and diagnoses, much to my dismay. Read the essay.

Has anybody thought about what if Kamala Harris had been elected? We as a nation would be in a different kind of world. No for the Republicans who would be saying, this too much cultural awareness, we can't support people across the world, even though it saves lives. We would be in a world of "DEI''. We would be people who are respectful of each other, the rhetoric would not be there, there would be no talk of invading Venezuela, nor Greenland. The world would respect us as decent human beings. 75 billion dollars for ICE, but we are paying for that. Let that sink in, when the BBB was passed, how far would that have gone to help with health care insurance? Kamala would not have even thought about enriching herself the way the current person in charge would have. 2 people in Minnesota have lost their lives, how many more, is respectfully to hope not to die.

The House has passed the appropriations bill to fund the government. And now the Senate needs to do the same. Senate: Do not shut down the government including FEMA and TSA.
The Fiscal Year 2026 Homeland Security Appropriations Act provides $64.4 billion in total discretionary funding, a $600 million decrease overall from fiscal year 2025.
Because Republicans provided over $190 billion for the Department of Homeland Security in OBBBA, Congress’ failure to pass a Homeland Security appropriations bill would not shut down ICE or CBP.
But the bill does include new guardrails, accountability and transparency measures across the Department of Homeland Security. And is funding:
Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA): The bill provides $5.7 billion for FEMA.
Transportation Security Agency (TSA)
U.S. Coast Guard
U.S. Secret Service (USSS)

If the sanctuary cities were not harboring illegals with criminal backgrounds ICE could proceed with their duties without incident but that is not the case. The protests which are far from peaceful are not occurring in red states as local law enforcement is working with ICE. The media and the Democrats are referring to the criminal illegals as if they were citizens, no surprise. Trump pledged to deport the illegals, and he is doing exactly that. There was no skirmish when Obama deported 3 million illegals, all the noise is partisan politics. The Democrats do not want any deportations as they see those as potential voters. It is unfortunate that 2 people have been killed. These protests have funding from the likes of George Soros who want to destabilize America as we know it.

And they want you to disbelieve what you can see with your *own eyes*.
- Jan 6 was not a peaceful protest.
- Renee Good did not threaten an ICE officer and run him over.
- Alex Pretti was not brandishing a weapon nor approaching officers.
Believe your eyes, not the lies.

Do you have any idea how many helpless women and children have been damaged irreparably or viciously slaughter or do you just not care? TDS is devastating.

The really sad part is that the FBI is supposed to be protecting us from real terrorist threats. Instead we are spending time and money to placate the bruised ego of a petulant child president. Get real.

The Republican Congress has been remiss in their duties to hold our officials accountable.

Border Czar Homan was reported to have said that, in Minnesota, the "crackdown could ease with more jail access." Curious -- does that mean the Feds will club and shoot fewer people if the Feds are given free rein in the city's jails? Strange, questionable strategy.

Conservative Reuters states Soros is not working to destroy the USA or funding paid protestors. Reuters states there are many unfounded conspiracy theories about Soros. My favorite: Jewish Soros was a Nazi.

Our ruler talks about using a "massive armada" if (when?) he initiates an attack on Iran.

Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA)
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS)

The hate for America has no regard for the citizens. Power and control is what they are striving for.
