A boy squints while looking into the sun at the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds in formation high overhead at Thunder & Lightning Over Arizona air show at Davis-Monthan AFB on Nov. 6, 2021. A woman climbs out of a Nissan pick-up as Northwest Fire District firefighters position themselves for a water rescue in the CaÃąada del Oro Wash at Overton Road on Aug. 10, 2021. I wasn't even ready for work when I heard the call for a water rescue about 10 minutes west of our house. Put on shorts and T-shirt and I was on the way. I had a clear view of firefighters doing what they have trained for so often.
