A 23-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a deadly shooting last month at a bar on the city's west side, Tucson police say.
About 1 a.m. Aug. 10, Fred Sanchez, 45, was shot during a confrontation at the Hideout Bar, 3000 S. Mission Rd., north of West Ajo Way. He died shortly after arriving at the hospital, police said in a news release.
While Sanchez was being treated the morning of the shooting, a 23-year-old man arrived at a different hospital with a gunshot wound that investigators previously said occurred during the same bar confrontation.
Police later obtained an arrest warrant for that man, Benjamin Alberto Mendoza Jr., who turned himself in to police on Thursday, the release said.
Mendoza was booked into the Pima County jail on suspicion of second-degree murder, the release said.
