Authorities have launched a homicide investigation after the death of a man who showed up at the hospital on Tucson's south side late Tuesday with a gunshot wound, officials say.
Few details have been released, but the Pima County Sheriff's Department said in a news release Wednesday that "there are no outstanding suspects, and the investigation remains ongoing."
The incident started about 11:45 p.m. when the wounded man was taken in a private vehicle to Banner Hospital, South Campus.
The department took up the criminal investigation after it was determined the man was shot in an incident outside the Tucson city limits near West Valencia Road and South Camino de la Tierra, the news release said.
Individuals who might be involved in the incident were detained, the release said.
