Two bodies were found Monday night inside a vehicle left in the desert on Tucson’s southwest side, authorities say.

About 11 p.m. deputies went the area of West Ajo Way near West Herman’s Road to check on a report of a suspicious vehicle, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department said Tuesday in a news release.

The bodies were found in the back seat of the vehicle.

β€œBased on the condition of the bodies, it appears they had been deceased for several days,” the release said. β€œPCSD Homicide Detectives responded to the scene and have assumed responsibility of the investigation.”

No details about the vehicles or potential identifying information about the bodies was shared by the department.

Autopsies are being conducted and the department is working to contact family members, the release said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Pima County Sheriff’s Department of 88-CRIME, the anonymous tip line.
