A 16-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the December killing of two people at a Tucson park, police said.
Kaleb Gonzales is the second person arrested in the Dec. 27 fatal shooting of Joshua Mariscal Jr., 20, and a 17-year-old boy police did not publicly identify. The pair were shot and killed about 8:15 p.m. at a community park in the 3600 block of South Naco Vista, near South Kino Parkway and East Ajo Way. They were meeting at the park with "unknown individuals," police have said.
Gonzales was booked into the Pima County Juvenile Detention Center on suspicion of two counts of first-degree murder, aggravated robbery and armed robbery. He was later transferred to the Pima County jail, police said Thursday in a news release.
Earlier this month, Jose Mendez-Torres, 18 was arrested in connection with the shooting. Mendez-Torres was jailed on suspicion of two counts of first-degree murder, armed robbery, aggravated robbery, trafficking in stolen property and discharging a firearm within city limits, police said in an earlier news release.
