A Tucson man on the run since being questioned in the suspicious death of his 4-year-old daughter has been apprehended.

Nathan Aaron Peru, 30, fled during an investigation into the March death of his daughter. He was apprehended Thursday afternoon, the Pima County Sheriff's Department said in a news release.

About 7:20 a.m. March 16, deputies were called to a house in the 4200 block of North Flowing Wells Road for a reported medical emergency involving the girl's possible drowning, the release said.

The girl was unresponsive and died at the scene. The initial investigation revealed the child died under suspicious circumstances, authorities have said.

Peru was about to be arrested when he fled in a stolen city vehicle. Peru was wanted on suspicion of two counts of sexual conduct with a minor and theft of means of transportation, the release said.

On Thursday, multiple units from the sheriff's department as well as the U.S. Marshal’s Service helped find and apprehend Peru in the city's Flowing Wells area. He was unarmed and taken into custody without incident, the release said.
