The death of a man whose body was found south of downtown Thursday is being investigated as a homicide, Tucson police say.

The body of Geraldo Roberto Quiroz, 33, was found about 11 a.m. near West 20th Street, north of West 22nd Street and east of Interstate-10, police said Friday in a news release.

Quiroz had sustained "physical trauma," the release said.

The investigation is in the early stages and police ask anyone with information to call 911 or 88-CRIME, the anonymous tip line.
