A woman who was killed Friday in a three-vehicle crash on Tucson's north side has been identified as 65-year-old Kathleen Forshay, police said.
Forshay died at Banner-University Medical Center Tucson shortly after the 7:20 a.m. crash, said Sgt. Kimberly Bay, a Tucson Police Department spokeswoman.
No one else was injured in the crash.
Traffic detectives interviewed multiple witnesses and found out that a man driving a white 2008 Ford Edge SUV was traveling east on East Fort Lowell Road at North Tucson Boulevard.
The driver was speeding and struck the side mirror of a white 2016 Subaru Forester that also was traveling east on Fort Lowell, and had slowed down for a red light at Tucson Boulevard, Bay said.
She said the driver of the Edge SUV failed to stop for the red light and struck the driver's side door of a gray 2015 Nissan Altima.
Forshay was driving the Altima north on Tucson Boulevard. She had a green light, said Bay.
Detectives are continuing the investigation, and no citation or an arrest has been made at this time. It does not appear that impairment is a factor in the crash, Bay said.
No further information was immediately available.
Since January, 38 fatalities have occurred in the city, compared to 39 as of this date last year, police department statistics show.
