An elderly woman was injured when her husband crashed into a building at a shopping complex on Tucson's northeast side Tuesday.

The woman received non-life threatening injuries and was treated by paramedics and taken to a hospital, said Sgt. Pete Dugan, a Tucson Police Department spokesman.

The 4 p.m. crash occurred at 7341 E. Tanque Verde Road, east of North Sabino Canyon Road.

Dugan said the man was pulling his car into a business parking lot when he pressed on the gas pedal instead of the brake pedal and crashed into a building.

As he was backing out of the building, his wife was getting out of the car and she was knocked down and injured, Dugan said. He said the woman was not run over.
