Ronald James Corbin Jr., 26, was arrested July 12 on suspicion of manslaughter in connection with the death of 27-year-old Genna Ayup.ย

Tucson police arrested a man this afternoon in connection with the death of a 27-year-old woman last month on the cityโ€™s southeast side.

Ronald James Corbin Jr., 26, was booked into the Pima County jail on suspicion of manslaughter in the slaying of Genna Ayup, 27, said Sgt. Chris Widmer, a Tucson Police Department spokesman.

On June 26, police responded to a 911 call in reference to gun shots heard at 6:30 p.m. in the 8500 block of East 18th Street, Widmer said.

Officers arrived within three minutes and found Ayup suffering from obvious signs of trauma, and began administering first aid, Widmer said.

Tucson Fire Department paramedics took Ayup to a hospital where she died, said Widmer.

Homicide detectives interviewed potential witnesses and gathered evidence at the scene, working the investigation which led to Corbinโ€™s arrest, Widmer said.
