Authorities in Sierra Vista arrested five people Friday in connection with an investigation into methamphetamine sales at a local apartment complex.

In a joint operation between the Cochise County Sheriff's Office and Sierra Vista Police Department, a search warrant was served at The Stanley Apartments, located at 448 West Wilcox Drive, as part of the weeks-long investigation into the alleged drug sales, said Carol Capas, a sheriff's office spokeswoman.

Authorities seized methamphetamine and other types of drug paraphernalia from the apartment they searched, and arrested the tenant and target of the investigation, Gailland Ballou, for possession of and intent to sell a dangerous drug, as well as multiple counts of possession of paraphernalia, Capas said.

Police also arrested another tenant, April Will, in connection with possession of a dangerous drug and paraphernalia.

Michael Howard was arrested on possession of a dangerous drug, possession of paraphernalia and tampering with or destruction of evidence, Capas said.

Two other people, Joshaua Garcia and Codie Hummell, were arrested in connection with failure to appear warrants.

The Cochise County Sheriff's Office is continuing the investigation.
