Pima County Sheriff's deputies have identified a man shot and killed on Tucson's southwest side Wednesday night as Jaime Caballero Jr.

Caballero, 22, was found mortally wounded after deputies answered a report of gunfire about 6:40 p.m. in the 2500 block of West Quail Road, said Deputy Ryan Inglett, a sheriff's spokesman. The neighborhood is north of West Valencia Road, and west of South Mission Road.

Caballero, who lives in the neighborhood, died at the scene.

Detectives continue to investigate and ask anyone with information to call 911 or 88-CRIME, the anonymous tipster line.
