A Tucson student won a congressional award.
Piyaporn Chivatanaporn of Sonoran Science Academy-Tucson received a gold medal for her excellence in volunteer public service, personal development, physical fitness and expedition/exploration.
Chivatanaporn spent three years doing 400 hours of public service, 200 hours of personal development, 200 hours of physical fitness activities and five days planning and executing a personal expedition.
She will be honored at a ceremony in Washington, D.C., in June 2017.
