Achievement at the Arizona State Schools for the Deaf and Blind is on the rise, according to results from a national assessment.

The campuses, including the Tucson location, showed a significant increase — 25 to 50 percent — in the number of students who met or exceeded their individual academic growth targets on the Measures of Academic Progress.

MAP is a computer adaptive assessment that measures individual student progress and achievement in reading, language usage and mathematics.

ASDB administers MAP to deaf, hard of hearing, blind, limited vision and multiply disabled students in the fall and spring. The test adjusts question difficulty levels based on each student’s proficiency level.
