The International School of Tucson has been named the Hanban Confucius Classroom of the Year.

The Hanban Confucius Institute is a non-profit organization that works to promote Chinese language and culture, and supports local Chinese teaching internationally.

The award is based on quality of teaching and learning, curriculum, cultural richness and community outreach and involvement, as well as extracurricular activities.

IST Head of School William Arthur will travel to Shanghai this week for the 10th Global Confucius Institute Conference where he will receive the award from the Vice Premier of China.
