Prospective students and families are invited to attend Sabino High School’s Welcome to Success Night.

The event will be Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the gym, 5000 N. Bowes Road.

Campus tours will be conducted by student council members, the cheer and jazz band will perform, and families can learn about academic programming and extracurricular activities.

Administration, teachers, counselors and coaches will be on hand.

Primavera holding open house

Primavera Online High School and Middle School are hosting an open house Wednesday in Tucson.

Prospective families and students are invited to BrushFire BBQ, 7080 E. 22nd Street, from 3 to 5 p.m. to meet faculty and staff, eat, and get information about online learning.

City High to host VOICES event

City High School is hosting the annual VOICES showcase Thursday from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

The event, which is free and open to the public, will feature live music and slam poetry performances, demonstrations by students in the game design class and STEM Action Crew, appetizers prepared and served by culinary students, and demonstrations by the Farm-to-School program.

The school is located downtown at 47 E. Pennington Street.

See ‘Beyond Measure’ for free

Tucson Waldorf school is putting on a free screening of the movie “Beyond Measure.”

The screening, put on in partnership with the University of Arizona College of Education, is Wednesday at 6 p.m. Admission is free, but tickets must be reserved at beyondmeasurefilm.com

The film is a follow up to “Race to Nowhere” and looks at the greater purpose of education — transforming students rather than transmitting facts and formulas.

The screening will be in the UA’s underground Integrated Learning Center, room 120. Located under the campus mall, the staircase entrance is west of Cherry near the main library entrance.

Tribal families can apply

for state-funded scholarships

Tribal families can apply now for state-funded K-12 Empowerment scholarships.

The Empowerment Scholarship Account is open to Native American children currently attending public school and living within the boundaries of a reservation community.

The funds can be used to pay for education expenses like private school tuition, online curriculum, tutoring and books.

A portion of the funds can also be saved for college.

Student applications wanted for scholarship contest

Scholarship applications are currently being accepted for the Catalina Mountain Elks Lodge #2815 contest.

The scholarship contest is open to Tucson-area college students pursuing undergraduate or graduate degrees, as well as vocational certification.
