The Arizona Board of Regents has scheduled a special meeting for Thursday, Feb. 1, to review assignments with its executive director John Arnold, who is also University of Arizona interim chief financial officer, and with UA President Robert C. Robbins in private session.
"The board is scheduling a series of special board meetings to proactively address the financial issues at the University of Arizona. The board and university will provide regular updates to the public on progress and outcomes," Regents Chair Fred DuVal told the Arizona Daily Star on Wednesday.
Arnold and Robbins announced the plan Monday to deal with a $177 million budget deficit the UA is operating under this fiscal year.
The "review of assignments" wording is not at all unusual for a regents' executive session.
For instance, the same wording, in that case with ABOR executive director Arnold and with Northern Arizona University President José Luis Cruz Rivera, was on the executive session agenda for ABOR's meeting that took place Thursday, Jan. 25.
